Is Czech Elmo funnier than American Elmo? / Je cesky Elmo legracnejsi nez americky Elmo?

My 3-year-old daughter completely fell in love with Czech Elmo. I mean it is the same American Elmo from Sesame street but with the Czech voice-over. She likes the original, English-speaking Elmo too but for some reason, she thinks the Czech-speaking Elmo is funnier. What’s even more interesting is that the Czech Elmo sounds EXACTLY the same as the American one. I am attaching a YouTube video of both so you can judge for yourself.

By they way,if you are interested, the DVD series are called “Svet Elmo” and they are virtually not available anywhere anymore. I don’t know why :( . Fortunately one of my Facebook buddies recommended ‘ulozto.cz’ and I was able to download some of those series. These videos are great to learn the Czech language – for young or old.

I did some quick research on the origin of his last name and my suspicion was confirmed. I am really interested in this one: if you are Czech (or of a Czech descent, or just think like Czech) what is currently your most favorite TV show? I really like Lost and 30 Rock with Tina Faye, she seems to have a  Czech style of humor :0)

Klaus is visiting US / Klaus je na navsteve v USA

Czech director Menzel first-time father at 70 /Slavny reziser Menzel otcem v 70 letech

No, it’s not a miracle story like what happened to Abraham and Sarah; it’s just that his wife is 40 years younger then him. The 30-year old Olga Menzelova-Kelymanova claims that baby wasn’t planned, she never really wanted to have children, but “(this) baby didn’t ask for anyone’s permission, it just came“. She also told to the interviewing magazine Blesk that she was not planning on giving up her carrier once the baby comes an that she would definitely be using babysitting services on a regular basis. Paulina Porizkova is back! / Pavlina Porizkova je zpet!

Pavlina Porizkova /www.tvguide.com imageI was listing through the magazines the other day and found a a small article on Paulina (really “Pavlina”) Porizkova, the 80′s hottest model ever, and the fact that she is currently featured on one of the worst shows ever – the America’s Next Top Model. As I was reading the article, I thought to myself:”Hmmm, she would fit into my Famous Czechs/Slovaks category!” and decided to put her in the CMD Hall of Fame.

CZ: Tak jsem si pred nedavnem v cekarne prohlizela magaziny a natrefila jsem na kratoucky clanek o Pavline Porizkove (pracuje ted na dosti trapne reality show America’s Next Top Model). Jelikoz byla v 80tych letech jednou z nejpopularnejsich modelek na svete, rozhodla jsem se ji za tento modelovy “ulet” udelit pardon a zaradit ji na list Znamych Cechu a Slovaku zijicich v zahranici:

Prague is practically Rihanna’s 2nd home / Praha je prakticky Rihannin druhy domov
