SOME ESSENTIALS one cannot do without…/Veci bez kterych se v zahranici neobejdete…

I always beat myself over my head remembering that I did not mention some of the Czech-essential thingies (which I have been using for a while) to you guys. Here are just a few of them; there would be more but I never write them down right when I remember them so I forget halfCzech duvet cover.

CZ: Ceske veci bez kterych se neobejdete! Povlak na periny, ceske radio pro deti a papani:

 

DUVET COVER – or ‘povlak na periny‘; very essential!!!!! I am sorry but who wants to sleep under some thin sheet when it’s freezing outside??!! You need a serious duvet filled with bird feathers to warm you up! And if you have that you also need a cover. You can buy them just about anywhere (Target, Bed bath and Beyond, Walmart), but they are kind of in hiding unless you know this term. Also they may be available only on-line.

DISKO TRYSKO – this is an Czech IPhone application for children. It’s a Czech radio which has three stations: kids disco music, kids fairytale songs, and kids fairytales. All in Czech and all free!!! My girls like to dance to it at least once a day.

FOOD ESSENTIALS – there are bunch of them like Czech Melta, Pribinacek, Czech-style flour…..all of these and many more are mentioned in my other post (click here).

An answer to your Christmas problem / Odpoved na vas vanocni problem

I love Christmas but it seems like every time I seem to struggle with what to give people since they (most of the time) have everything. I usually end up making them something or use the wonderful home made  gifts from Etsy. Breaking news (chocolate related)! / Zhava novinka (cokoladoveho razu)!

ATTENTION to all fellow Czechs and Slovaks (or anyone who likes  good chocolate): You will be happy to know that Target now carries Milka – the best German chocolate ever. Unfortunately, it carries only one type, which is the ‘boring’ milk chocolate Milka. My all-time favorite is yogurt Milka, which still has not made it to the US.

I took that picture in Target so that you know I am not making things up ;)

CZ: POZOR, DULEZITE HLASENI! Target nyni prodava cokoladu Milku. OPAKUJI: Target nyni prodava cokoladu Milku!!!! Je to sice jen ‘nudna’ mlecna cokolada, ale snad nam brzy dovezou zajimavejsi prichute, jako je napriklad jogurtova Milka – moje oblibena!!

New year, new look! / Novy Rok, novy vzhled!

Finally, the promised Christmas present is here! No, it’s not the chocolate cake like the one in the picture and yes, it came a bit late….but it is here! The Czechmate Diary went through a face-lift and I love the outcome of it. How about you?

So what did I do:

1. I added the flags

Duh! They should have been here a long time ago!

2. I made the title look a bit more rustic and adventurous

3. I added the old map in the background

I came across this old map which reminds me of a travel, a long voyage and old leathery diaries. Also if you look at the full map (attached) you will see that there is a magnificent ship traveling from Europe to America, all the way across the Atlantic ocean. That is the story of my life. I took a long journey across the Atlantic ocean  to America to start a new life and share my impressions with you guys.

4. I updated all of the technical stuff, plug-ins, html codes, widgets..blah, blah, blah….you get the point.
