43. Annual Film Festival In Karlovy Vary is on / 43. rocnik Filmoveho festivalu V Karlovych Varech je v plnem provozu

The 43th Annual Film Festival in Karlovy Vary just started (where did that year go??). The Festival will show over 220 films and 60 premiers – all in 8 days (!!). And what celebrity is granting its presence to this year’s celebration? Last year we had Dany de Vito and Renee Zellweger and this year it is Robert De Niro himself! This will be his second visit to Karlovy Vary as he visited this town 18 years ago.

Besides de Niro, this year’s jury includes other personalities such as the famous Czech director – now living in the US – Ivan Passer, actress Brenda Blethyn (“Pride and Prejudice”, “Atonement”). The jury will be deciding between 14 movies, 2 of them being Czech (this year’s Czech movie “torch” is being carried by “Karamazovs” and “Night Owls”). For those who don’t like movies, have never had a TV set in their life, there is a plan B: music concerts and street parties! Among other fabulous performing bands is also the Oscar-winning duet Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.

Krome nej v porote budou sedet dalsi hvezdy stribrneho platna jako je cesky reziser Ivan Passer a herecka Brenda Blethyn (zname ji z filmu “Pride and Prejudice” a “Atonement”). Budou rozhodovat o vitezi ze 14ti vybranych filmu, z nichz 2 jsou filmy ceske: “Nocni Sovy” a “Karamazovy”. Pro ty, kteri filmy proste nezajima, v zivote televizi doma nemeli, tak ma mesto vymysleny plan B: koncerty a parby. Tento rok nam mezi dalsimi super kapelami take zahraje Oskarova dvojka Glena Hansarda a Markety Irglove.
