Yesterday stared the 44th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary. Among the most important guests this year are Milos Forman, a French celebrity film-maker Patrice Chereau, president Vaclav Klaus and others. The producers of the festival are a bit worried that thanks to the economic crisis the visitorship will be on the low side this year. The tickets cost 65 crowns (about $3) so hopefully the low price should encourage people to attend. The total of 234 movies are going to be shown this year; 14 of them (from 14 different countries) are going to be competing for the Crystal Globe prize, including the latest film by Milos Forman and movies directed by John Malkovich, Paul Schrader and Patrice Chereau. All of these personalities will be also present at the festival. Let us hope that they will enjoy their stay at Karlovy Vary without trouble unlike last year’s experience.
CZ: Vcera zacal 44. rocnik Mezinarodniho filmoveho festivalu v Karlovych Varech. Mezi pritomnymi celebritami se tento rok nachazi Milos Forman, francouzka hvezda filmu Patrice Chereau nebo take prezident Vaclav Klaus. Producenti festivalu se ale obavaji, ze diky celosvetove ekonomicke krizi, pocet navstevniku bude drasticky snizen. Listky jsou velmi levne – stoji 63 korun – tak doufejme, ze to lidi povzbudi. Do konce festivalu se ma promitnout 234 filmu, z nich 14 soutezi o cenu Krystaloveho Glubusu, k nimz patri take novy film Milose Formana a snimek rezirovany Johnem Malkovicem (sam ho publiku take uvede). Doufejme, ze zucastnujici se filmove hvezdy proziji pobyt v Karlovych varech bez problemu, ne jako tomu bylo v letech minulych.
