Prague was selected as one of the 3 European countries to be the hosting city of this year’s Tour de Ski. The day before the race the organizers started to import 2,000 cubic meters (about 71,000 cubic feet) of snow onto the surface of Hradcanske Square through the streets of Prague Castle and other streets of historical Prague 1. The next part of the Tour de Ski race is being held today at Nove Mesto (Moravia), one of the most famous winter sport resorts in the Czech Republic. The competition will be further continued in Germany (Oberstdorf) and Italy (Asiago and Val di Fiemme). The Cross-country skiers have to race the total of 90 km (56 miles) untill they reach their final destination, the top of Alpe Cermis (1, 280m). The winner will win the prize of the best sprinter and 644,000 Euro.
CZ: Praha byla tento rok vybrana jednou z 5-ti evropskych mest, ktera bude hostit Tour de Ski. Den pred zacatkem teto bezkarske souteze bylo na Hradcanske namesti a dalsi ulice na Praze 1 zaneseno 2 000 kubickych metru umeleho snehu. Tour de Ski bude pokracovat dale v Novem Meste a pak se soutez presune do Nemecka (Oberstdorf) a pote do Italie (Asiaga a Val di Fiemme). Tam bezkari ukonci jejich “nekonecnou” trasu na vrcholu hory Alpe Cermis (1 280m). Celkova trasa je 90 km dlouha, ale stoji to za to, ponevads vitez vyrhaje 644 000 Euro.
