The Czech ZOOs in Usti had an interesting visitor for a few days. An exhausted albino doe was caught by the local cemetery where she was chased and finally bit by some dogs. She was moved to Decin and became part of the animal crew that represents the unique geographical region of so called Czech Switzerland.
Albino does are very unusual in nature. Unfortunately, their unique coloring brings them much trouble. Not only they are not liked and trusted by other animals but their lack of eye pigment causes problems with their sight and they are also very sensitive to light.
There is an old saying that if one shoots an albino doe that person will die within one year. So no more albino doe shooting! ;0)
CZ: V Ustecke zologicke zahrade pribyl na nekolik dni novy obyvatel. Mistni policii se totiz podarilo oddchytit bilou srnu. Na mistnim hrbitove na ni zauticili psi a parkrat ji take pokousali. Jelikoz ustecka ZOO srny nechova, srnka albin byla prevezena do Decina, kde se stane soucasti expozice zamerene na faunu Ceskosaskeho Svycarska.
‘ Srny albini jsou neobvykle. Netradicne zbarvena zvirata maji problemy se zivotem v prirode nejen kvuli svemu napadnemu zbarveni, ale zejmena kvuli nedostatku pigmentu v ocich, coz zpusobuje poruchy videni a svetloplachost. Mezi myslivci take traduje povest, ze ten, kdo zastreli bilou srnu, do roka zemre.’
