While the Czechs are still a little hesitant about the usage of Euro as their currency, the Slovaks have a different point of view. They are ready to “jump in” as early as January of 2009 and exchange their “boring” Slovak crowns for something more exiting… See for yourself in this video (click here)…
CZ: Zatimco Cesi stale vahaji o zavedeni Eura jako jejich hlavni penezni menu, Slovensko to vidi jinak. Zacne totiz pouzivat Euro jiz v lednu pristiho roku. Presvecte se sami v tomto videu (kliknete zde).
I’ve been to Bratislava 3 times and I love the Slovak people, but Slovakia is in no one ready for the euro – the ordinary people that i’ve talked to have alot of problems economically with finding a job or starting a business as it is! This is something the politicians are pushing for because of pride.
Is it a competition to beat the Czechs?
I don’t think it’s a competition;
The Czech crown has been doing so well that the Czechs have no reason to start using Euros. As far as Slovakia goes,I think it will help their economy…we will see…
We need some Slovak input here!!
Do you really think the implementation of the euro could seriously help any economy …? The euro was invented at the end of the last century by desperate politicians in western Europe who were lusting after hidden private wealth and looking for effective ways how to curb tax evasion in order to prevent their countries going bankrupt. Publicity-hungry individuals like former Chancellor Helmut Kohl regarded the euro as their prestige project – the population was never asked (so much about democracy!) but today they all have to suffer from the economic perversion which followed. Those countries which were careless enough to accept the euro at a later stage (e. g. Austria) would rather like to get out of it but now it´s too late to cry. The British were smart enough to keep their Sterling and they don´t live badly with that. What good will it be for Slovakia to use the euro? Maybe the only positive aspect will be that in future Austrian grandmothers won´t need to visit the money changer before doing their weekly shopping at the first supermarket behind the borderline……………..
