While America is kind of over the whole shopping mall scene (it was big hit of the 80’s) the Czech Republic is just getting started. There are currently about 60 shopping mall centers spread all over the CR while 50 other ones are on the verge of being built. More about the shopping mall boom and why do they grow like mushrooms after the rain (is that an American expression as well or am I making a fool out of myself here?) click here.

I know of a new one built in Prague. My friend happens to be the head of PR there and even she commented on the popularity of malls over there.
I can tell you that a lot of Vietnamese people own clothing stores in the areas I’ve been in.. so they depend on malls to get their fashions.
And way to go on the American expression! You hit it perfectly!
Thanks! I just love that picture too! It is so “I am so hot, skinny and rich and I have got it going on…So everyone LOOK AT ME!”
Mall mania, imported Asian goods, increase in disposable income, suburbia migration, buying on credit… credit crisis, housing market collapse, decreased valuation of local currency…
Ahh the joys of being just a few years behind!
