President Klaus enrages people by his optimism / Klaus otravil divaky svym optimismem

President Klaus in his New Year’s speech enraged some of his fellow politicians because of his optimistic outlook on life. In his speech he said:” Although our country has some problems that we have to deal with on everyday basis, we currently live in the best times we have ever lived in“. He then named some proofs of this bold statement:

• the Czechs are not leaving the Czech Republic by the masses. Instead, they are getting loans, meaning that they believe in the future
• the economy has been steadily improving

Since this speech may have been possibly his last one as the president of the CR, he devoted some time to reflect on the past. He pointed out an interesting fact that the pivotal points in the Czech republic’s history happened in the years ending with the number “8”:

• 1918 –> the rise of the First Republic
• 1938 –> Nazi occupation
• 1948 –> Communist occupation
• 1998 –> I graduated from high school :))

Unfortunately, to some fellow politicians the speech seemed “too bland” and “unspecific” ( and probably too optimistic too..).

CZ: Klaus v svem novorocnim projevu vcera vecer pronesl:”Pres nemalou radu osobních i spolecenských problému, které kolem sebe každý z nás vidíme a cítíme, dnes asi žijeme v nejlepším období naší zeme, v jakém jsme kdy žili”. Vyjmenoval pak par ocividnych dukazu:

• Cesi neodchazeji masove do ciziny, ale naopak, berou si hypoteky, coz znamena, ze veri v budoucnost
• neustale se zlepsujici statni ekonomie

Jelikoz tento projev mohl byt i poslednim projevem Klause jako presidenta Ceske republiky (jestlize nevyhraje nastavajici volby nad Janem Svejnarem), ztravil take nejaky cas vzpominanim na casy minule. Pripomnel divakum, ze vetsina dulezitych udalosti CR se stala v letech koncicich na cislo 8:

• 1918 ==> zrozeni Ceske republiky
• 1938 ==> Nacisticka okupace
• 1948 ==> okupace komunistu
• 1998 ==> ja jsem dokoncila stredni skolu :))

Nekterym politikum tato rec prisla bohuzel “nudna”, “nespecificka” a byli s ni celkove nespokojeni (asi to na ne bylo az moc vesele…).
