Thanks to the Warsaw Pact the Soviet army occupied Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic from 1968 until 1991. During those 23 years those troops caused a lot of environmental damage to our lands. They operated in 73 localities from which 60 were left in a very bad shape. What were the main environmental problems?
- contamination of ground water by fuels like petrol or diesel
- dumps with hazardous waste
- unexploded ammunition (!!)
About 1.4 billion crowns later, most of the mess is finally cleaned up. The whole environmental clean-up project should be over in 2012. That means it will only take 11 years to clean up after our Russian communist “buddies”!
CZ: Diky Varsavske smlouve okupovala Ruska Armada Cechy po dobu dlouhych 23 let (1968 – 1991). Behem teto doby dokazali tito vojaci znicit znacnou cast ceskeho zivotniho prostredi. Operovali na 73 lokalitach, z nichz 60 jich zustalo velmi poskozeno. O jakych skodach tu mluvime?
- znecisteni podzemni vody
- skladky plne hazardniho odpadu
- neodjistene strelivo (granaty..)
Pote, co Ceska vlada investovala okolo 1,4 bilionu korun jsou dnes tyto lokality temer uklizene; cely project ma byt dokonceny ale az v roce 2012. To znamena, ze kompletni generalni uklid po nasich komunistickych “kamaradech” bude trvat pouhych 11 let!
