Imigration in the CR on the all-time high / Migrace v CR stale stoupa

According to the National Security Council of the Czech Republic more than 390,000 immigrants came to the Czech Republic in 2007. That is 22% increase when compared to the last year’s figures. Why this sudden increase?

1. Czech economy is doing great
2. unemployment rate is low (5%)
3. government subsidizes programs for various industries

Although it is easier to get in the Czech Republic when compared to other countries in Western Europe, it is much harder to stay, which a lot of immigrants don’t know.Marie Jelinkova, the spokesman of the Prague Multicultural Centre further explains: “You can come to the CR when you have a certain purpose (job, study). Once you lose you purpose, you are expected to leave..“. And what countries do most foreigners come from?

• Ukraine
• Slovakia
• Vietnam
• Poland
• Russia

According to Mrs. Jelinkova the overall immigration system seems to be working except for couple of “bugs”. One of them being the permanent residency issue. If one of these foreigners apply for permanent residency they need to pass a Czech language examination. However, there are not enough Czech courses for them to attend, plus most of them are offered during the day when they are working.

Ceska ekonomie si vede vyborne, nezamestnanost je velmi nizka (5%) a vlada subvencuje ruzne privatne vlastnene podniky. I kdyz je pravda, ze je lehci dostat se do CR nez do jinych zemi v Zapadni Evrpe, je ale tezsi v ni zustat, coz mnoho imigrantu nevi. Marie Jelinkova, mluvci Multikulturniho centra v Praze dale vysvetluje “Muzete prijit do Cech jestlize mate specificky ucel; jakmile je tento ucel u konce, je od vas ocekavano, ze odejdete”. A z jakych zemi pry prichazi nejvice cizincu? Z Ukrajiny, Slovenska, Vietnamu, Polska a Ruska. Podle Pani Jelinkove pry celkovy migracni system funguje velmi dobre, krome par “chybicek” jako je problem trvale residence. Soucasti obdrzeni trvale residence je take slozeni zkousky z ceskeho jazyka. CR ale nenabizi dostatek kurzu a ty ktere existuji jsou poradane pres den, tedy v dobu kdy vetsina lidi pracuje.
