Welcome to the fairytale: castle Bouzov / Vitejte v pohadce: hrad Bouzov

County Bouzov has been one of the most visited touristic places in Czech. The reason why it attracts so many visitors is the fairytale castle called Bouzov. The resort lies on the top of a forested hill, overflowing with draw bridges and magnificent towers. You simply feel like you just entered the land of the “Lord of the Rings”! Although its construction began already in the 14th century, the today’s romantic look was “faked” in 1895 when the reconstruction began. During the Thirty-year War the castle served as a prison for Swedish captives. Later it was taken by German knights who owned it until 1945. There are two other “juicy” facts that I found about this castle:

1. it is supposed to be a birthplace to Jiri of Podebrad – a well-liked king of Bohemia in the 15th century (O.K., that is not THAT juicy…)
2. during the W.W.II Adolf Hitler gave Bouzov castle to Himmler (Hitler’s right hand, also a commander of SS); it then served as a home for SS guards which later – as a “word of thanks” – burned down the town of Javoricko

CZ: Obec Bouzov patri mezi nejnavstevovanejsi turisticke cile a to diky pohadkovemu hradu nazyvanemu – ano uhadli jste spravne – Bouzov. Na kopci, uprostred lesu se tyci tato romanticka tvrz, ktera primo preteka padajicimi mosty, vezmi a bastami; proste si prijdete jako v “Panovi prstenu”! I kdyz jeho stavba byla zapocata jiz ve 14. stoleti, nynejsi stredoveky vzhled byl “figlovan” v roce 1895, kdy jeho rekonstrukce zacala. Za Cricetilete valky hrad slouzil jako vezeni pro svedske zajatce. Pote majetek ziskali nemecti rytiri a drzeli hrad az do roku 1945. O hradu jsem nasla dve stavnate zajimavosti:

1. pry se zde narodil Jiri z Podebrad (tak to je zajimavost pouze pro sprty, priznavam..)
2. behem 2.svetove valky Adolf Hitler venoval Bouzov Himmlerovi (SS komander, hned po Hitlerovi nejmocnejsi muz nacistickeho Nemecka) a na hrade pak sidlil prepadovy oddil SS (ktery take koncem valky vypalil obec Javoricko)

Krome hradu si take muzete vychutnat prohlidku Galeria v podhradi, ktera mimo jine vystavuje take 15 metroveho trojskeho kone. Muzete si take vyzkouset strelbu ze stredoveke kuse.
