Remember those wooden toys we used to play with in the Czech Republic? The were awesome! My friend is now selling them in the US at Toysunplugged.com, so if you want your little one to have such a toy under the Christmas tree order one right here (click here). They are very reasonably priced, even for someone like myself who is quite the frugal type;). I was thinking getting my daughter that famous stork that you hang on a tree and when the wind blows or when the kids pull on the string it moves its wings. That is truly my all-time favorite wooden toy.
And yes, the little tag really says ‘Made in the Czech Republic” not “Made in China” :).

Vase male ratolesti si s nimi ted take mohou hrat, i kdyz jsou vzaleni nekolik tisic mil od Ceske republiky. Muj kamarad je totiz prodava tady v USA a nejsou vubec drahe. Ja osobne si asi poridim toho capa; moc se mi libi, jak ho clovek muze povesit na strom a on tam pak ve vetru mava kridly, jako kdyby opravdu letal :).

My family sent my younger brother who was born here the duck when I was in my teens and he rarely played with it so I took it when I moved out thinking I would save it for my children. My son is now almost 4 and the duck is the one toy that gets the most use. He lost the little piece of wood that keeps the head from coming out of the duck body (it still works) and now takes the head out and uses it as a microphone! http://www.slovczechvar.com is a great website for Czech and Slovak toys and games too.

Nepamatuje se nekdo jak se jmenovala ta hracka, myslim ze je ze skla, kolibe se a je cervena a kolem tvare ma bilou krajku, je to pro miminka a kdyz ji das na zem tak se kolibe a toci. Neco jako panenka ale neni to panenka. Ja ji tak hledam! Misto rukou ma dve cervene boule, ta panenka je taky udelana ze dvouch bouli a jo jeste kdyz se koliba a toci tak pusti takovy cinkavy hlasek jako zvonecky pro miminka. Ja vim ze znim jako absolutni cvok ale ja tu hracku musim sehnat k temhle vanocim tak prosim nekdo pomocte. Diky dopredu.

rikali jsme ji babuska, je to totiz ruska vec, dole je zavazi, aby se kyvala ale neprekotila. Pred revoluci byla skoro vsude, ted nevim. Asi spis bazar nebo ji najde nekdo po detech ve skrini… Moje prvni dcera ji mela, ale to uz je pres 25 let. I kdyz velkou Tatru jeste schovavane a plysoveho bernardyna mame asi na veky.
