To my surprise, my drawings of Prague/CR were quite the hit last time so I am coming back with more! I have also been working on a new hand-knitted bag (for about 3 days and nights straight), which is decorated with the cutest Czech lion buttons. If no one buys it pretty soon, sorry it’s mine :)

Babies and Maxipes Fik go so well together! That’s why I designed a pair of pants just for them! They are cute, unique and made out of 100% organic cotton.

The price ranges from $21.99 for the littlest peanuts to about $24.99 for the older babies (plus $3.99 for shipping and handling).

Adult sizes (maybe a pair for your dear hubby?) – although a bit more expensive – are also available.:). [click to continue…]

The newest addition to the Czechmate Diary store has just arrived! This time it is a 11-oz coffee mug with a silhouette painting of the Prague Castle, viewed from the Charles Bridge (hence the antique lamp on the left of the picture). Each mug is drawn by me personally, so if you would like a slight changes in the writing below (like “Prague” or “Praga” instead of “Praha” or something like that) it can be done.

Each mug costs only $12.99 (plus $5.00 for shipping*). As usual, the Czechmate Diary email subscribers get a 10% discount.

If you would like to purchase any of these items please contact me here (click here). Thank you!

Most of you know from my Facebook updates that during this pregnancy I have developed a serious knitting addiction. Not sure if it has something to do with the nesting syndrome, all I know is that I can’t put the needles down and have most likely developed a carpal tunnel in both wrists. However, as it is with all addictions, I don’t care!

I made mostly hats and purses (and cell phone holers..and buttons) – all with Czech themes (and if there is enough interest next year I will come up with Slovak themes too) – which make them to be wonderful Christmas presents or just presents for any occasion. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, something that NO ONE ELSE will ever wear. But if there is a need, I can also custom make more of them, in different colors or children sizes if you like.

“PURSES”

1. The Earthly Lion

This hand knitted bag is my favorite. The mixture of earthly colors and textures gives it a hippie look which is very much in style now. However, the bag is also very spacious so one can fit almost anything in it: books, groceries, towels when you go to the beach…anything. This awesome bag is about 15″ wide, 12″ tall and 2″ deep. The strap is 25″ long. And the price? Only $39.99 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling.

1. “Burgundy beauty”
A hand-knitted ladies purse from a shimmery, deep red (and thick!) yarn; measures approx. 12″ across and 9″ high. I added a unique decoration of the Czech flag print, which is sewn on in a fun, ribbon-like way across the front and back of the purse. The shimmering red glitters woven in the yarn itself give it a very festive look with which you could show up even in the White House if needed. Cost: $29.99

Christmas will be here soon and Czechmate Diary is now selling authentic and affordable Czech crystal jewelery! I make it myself as it is one of my (many) favorite hobbies in life. I put a special Czech touch into all of my hand crafted jewelry items and I hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoy designing and making them.

Did you know that the Bohemian crystal  has been around ever since the 13th century? Its history starts with the abundant natural resources found in the rural Czech countryside. The local glass workers discovered potash combined with chalk created a clear colorless glass that was more stable than glass from Italy. It was at that time when the term Bohemian crystal emerged for the first time in history to distinguish its qualities from the glass coming from other places. As opposed to usual perception this glass was non-lead which meant that it could be cut with a wheel. Bohemian crystal became famous for its excellent cut and engraving and it is adored and worked with all over the world including my home.

livepreviewYou may not realize it but Christmas is just around the corner AGAIN! Isn’t it crazy how the time flies?? What a better way to start this Christmas season by getting Christmas cards designed and drawn by Tanja (me)? I had so much fun drawing these pictures and I hope they will bring you much joy this Christmas season and into the New year as well.

The first card is a picture of cozy mountain town called Rokytnice nad Jizerou, where many of us (including myself) have spent winter after winter skying, snowboarding and having fun.

The second card is a picture of the unforgettable Charles Bridge in the winter season. People are bundled up in thick jackets and it starts to get dark around 5 pm….a perfect time for a cup of hot chocolate.

Two different themes but both filled with wonderful Czech Christmas mood. You pick and it will be shipped to you within few days. [click to continue…]
