Very cool: Mutual Inspirations Festival / Super novinka: Festival vzajemnych inspiraci

http://wolfsonianfiulibrary.wordpress.comI am always excited when I learn new things. Like tonight I learned about the Mutual Inspirations Festival (MIF). Don’t try to decipher the name because you will never find out what it is about….let me help you!

‘The MIF is an annual initiative spearheaded by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, focusing on the mutual inspirations between Czech and American cultures and featuring each year an extraordinary Czech personality who has greatly influenced and inspired others through his or her work (MIF 2010-Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, MIF 2011-Antonín Dvořák, MIF 2012-Miloš Forman, MIF 2013-Václav Havel). This year, the festival celebrates the life and legacy of the dissident, playwright, and former Czech president Václav Havel, with over 30 events taking place from September 5-October 31, 2013, throughout prestigious venues in the nation’s capital.

October 2nd, for example, marks a special dedication of a Vaclav Havel’s Place. This new memorial in Georgetown will include a linden tree, the national tree of the Czech Republic, as well as a bench designed by Havel’s court architect Bořek Šípek.

Georgetown was one of the first places that Havel visited after coming to the U.S. in 1990, following the revolution that brought freedom to the nation.“I wanted to visit students because students played a very important role in our Velvet Revolution,” Havel said.

Be sure to check out all the events, they may just be in your neck of the woods (click here).

CZ: Slyseli jste nekdy o MIF (Mutual Inspirations Festival)?

Velmi elegantni.

If you liked this post buy me a coffee! (Suggested:$3 a latte $8 for a pound) Thanks!

Zajímavé, díky… Škoda jenom, že pořádají aktivity “throughout prestigious venues in the nation’s capital.”, ale už ne tak moc “po celem USA” 🙁
