One of the Masin brothers,a well-known anti-communist fighter, passed away at 81/ Ctirad Masin zemrel vcera ve svem Clevelandovskem dome

Both handsome brothers as well as their father were known for their resistance tendencies. Josef Masin (the father) was executed in Prague after being tortured several days by the Gestapo, which he was feverishly fighting against. His sons, Ctirad (who passed away yesterday in his Cleveland home) and Josef, inherited his courageous spirit and fought against the communist regime. What they are most known for, however, is their incredible escape to Western Germany. Why was their escape so controversial and why do some people call them heroes and others label them as murders?

Tri Kralove – general Balaban, Masin a jmeno tretiho si uz nevybavuji. Delali neuveritelne odvazne sabotazni akce. Bohuzel, vsichni byli postupne dopadeni, nelidsky vyslychani a muceni a pozdeji a popraveni.

    Diky Honzo, jdu to opravit.

    Pro nekoho jsou to hrdinove, pro nekoho vrazi…
    Vetsina Cechu jsou komunisticti kolaboranti a budou je povazovat za vrahy, i kdyz prevazna cast Cechu vrazdila po valce etnicke Nemce jen tak pro zabavu,,,a tito lide ted rikaji, ze tito bratri byli vrazi….a ve skrino jim visi bavorske kratasy, protoze za nacistu spolupracovali s gestapem….
    Kdyz se na to podivame strizlive, tak nemuzeme presne verit zadne variente…jedni rikaji, ze bratri Masinove vrazdili svazane pohranicniky, druzi rikaji, ze to bylo v sebeobrane.
    Proste je to tak, ze vitezna strana ma vzdy pravdu…ale s klidem muzu rici, ze kdyz verim, ze delam spravnou vec pro budoucnost lidstva, muzu i zabijet….a v to verili i komuniste ;;;

    Aha, takze on opravdu nikdo nevi, co se tam stalo, co? Jako promin, ale kdyz se nekdo snazi dostat na Zapad za takovych podminek, tak se nedivim, ze v sebeobrane (a jak jinak?) museli take par pohranicnich vojaku zastrelit. Jinak by je zastrelili oni! To je preci jasne.
    A ze by se z nich najednou stali zvirata, a zacali je strilet jenom tak ‘z radosti’, jako zvirata, no to se mi fakt nechce verit…

    Samozrejme, Tanjo, mas pravdu. Pokud me znalosti sahaji, jeste upresnim, ze to nebyli pohranicnici, ale vojaci armady NDR (Nemecka Demokraticka Rep.). Proti bratrim Masinum a dvema dalsim bylo nasazeno snad 20.000 vojaku (mozna i vice?). Dokonce spojenecke zpravodajske sluzby zaznamenaly nebyvale rinceni zbrani v komunisticke zone jizne od Berlina. To se pak vysvetlilo, kdyz se Masinove a Paumer dostali do zap. Berlina k americanum. Ctvrty – Janata (?) byl vsak cestou zranen, zajat, poslan do ceska a tam popraven.

    I believe their was also a sister of the brothers who stayed behind under communism or a sister in law. She refused to accept the prize the brother’s received. I believe there is an interview of her somewhere on Czech Television explaining herself. It must have been hard to be a daughter and sister and have the last name Masin.
    The belief of the Americans helping them to crush the communists after WWII was a common belief. When the Hungarians had their uprising in ’52 or ’55 they thought the Americans would help them.
