US visa-free status coming soon! / Bezvizovy styk s USA se blizi!

According to the latest prognosis, Czechs should be able to travel to the US visa-free starting November 17th (which is also the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution), which is less than 2 months away! The Czech prime minister is planning on visiting Washington in late October to not only discuss the U.S. missile defense radar base but also to sign the 2 remaining agreements necessary for the visa-free travel status. The first agreement deals with the cooperation with the US center in terrorism threats and the second one concerns the exchange of information about the people who were convicted of serious crimes in the past. Once the US waves the visa requirement, Czechs will just simply go on line, fill out a simple form, press the “send” button, go get a coffee, come back and their approval letter will be in their mail box….

If Czechs are allowed to enter the US without a visa will everyone who applies get approval to enter? How long can they stay in the country? To work and study in the US they would still need to get visas and apply for green cards right? I have not seen any answers to these questions in the Czech press or maybe I am not looking the right spot.
    Does anyone have any answers?
    Diky,

    Hi Jana,

The article didn’t answer any of your questions either; but I think once you apply they should approve you unless you are a terrorist (i.e. you are on their “bad boy list).

I will look into those questions for you…

Though Czech won’t need a visa to enter the US, they will need the “upgraded version of a passport” – the one with the biological info chip in it.

    Hi Lenka,

O-Oh here it comes – the “biological chip”. Have you ever seen the movie GATTACA?? That kind of remained me of that…
