Prague, the black sheep of UNESCO / Praha, cerna ovce UNESCA

Do you remember Prague’s most boring (sometimes the most dangerous) quarterPankrac? Well, now it is not only the new Business center of Prague but it will be the changing station for new Metro D line. The city is planning to build 2 postmodern skyscraper buildings in the shape of the letter “V” but the plans had to come to a stop for a while. The UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee did not approve of the buildings because they are supposed to be 104 metres high, which exceeds the UNESCO 70-meter building limit; anything taller than 70 metres goes against the preserved historical city panoramas. What is the final verdict? The Ministry of Culture decided to ignore the UNESCO “recommendations” and starts building (so I guess we are the “bad boys” now! Yeah!).

CZ:Pamatujete is na tu nejnudnejsi (nekdy take nejnebezpecnejsi) ctvrt PrahyPankrac? Ted je tomu uplne jinak; nejen ze je Pankrac nove Byznys Cetrum, ale bude to take prestupni stanice nove metrove linky “D”. Mesto se chysta postavit ve stredu 2 nove mrakodrapy, a to ve tvaru pismena “V”. V cem je problem? Problem je v tom, ze maji byt 104 metru vysoke, coz predciva UNESCO 70ti metrovy limit. Jakakoliv vyssi budova pry nici panorama tohoto historickeho mesta. Po dlouhych sporech se ale ministerstvo kultury rozhodlo ignorovat “rady” UNESCA a mrakodrapy postavit (to znamena, ze jsme ted v ocich UNESCA jacisi psanci?!)
