Hello, I just wanted to ask all of you lovely Czech people abroad in the US a quick question. I will be starting to sell Czech food,sterilized vegetables,baking goods etc… I would like to know what products you would be intersted in or what you miss. Also, to all of the wonderful Czech mommies!! Would you be intersted in Czech baby formula(Sunar) and Czech baby foods for your babies if it was available?? Thank you!! I just want to bring a lil’ bit of home to your hearts!!! Kimmie

Here is to your slogan “small bohemian steps to world domination”. You’ve got to love this one. Everyone else has tried, why not the Czechs? Couldn’t do any worse. In light of small steps, these are mine: many of the businesses I visit now know the polite czech words (hello, thanks etc.), I’ve got several people interested in czech folk and fusion music and we now have a 20 member czech language interest group which just began in June. We are on our way to making Raleigh, NC, USA a hotbed of czech culture and interest (in the most unlikely of places). I’m having a great time! Thanks for the website – it is wonderful!

Dekuji Tanja! No language is easy if one’s goal is relative fluency; all would need intensive work. This year-long quest has led me to form a Czech language interest group here and to find a tutor (a graduate student here for a year (z Prahy). As I learn the language, I learn the culture; I’ve made a czech cherry-egg noodle pudding and am listening to czech folk music (drives my wife crazy). I have found that the language is the key to all knowledge of a place not your own. Dvorak may have lived in Iowa, U.S. while he wrote ‘The New World Symphony’ but I’m sure he thought about it in Czech. I’ve never before had such a wonderful experience about learning of another place and culture as I have had this last year. Your website was suggested to me by one of my group – I very much enjoy all I have seen (can’t wait to delve into the differences in the animal sounds (I am a veterinarian). Thanks again.

As a year-long learner of the Czech language and Czech culture, I can only say how wonderful an experience it has been. Moye manzelka je napul cheska and has been my inspiration for this ‘obsession’. I have become totally absorbed by this language but obviously need to travel to the CZ to immerse myself in it. I have no idea whether this belongs on your blog/comment section or not but wanted to say it anyway. Michael in Raleigh, NC USA
