Czechmate diary is in the news! / Czechmate diary je v “novinach”
So I thought I would brag a little and let you guys know that the krajane.net website made an interview with me, featuring this website (Click here). They call me the “first Czech-American blogger” - makes me feel kind of important
Unfortunately it is in Czech so here is the translation in a nutshell:
1/ Where do you come from? How did you get to the US?
– ( all found in the CMD “about” page )
2/What do you like about America? What do you dislike?
– like: people in general are nicer and more positive. Lot of people go to church here and that gives them more peace, hope and happiness. I myself have become a “church goer” and I am so much happier than ever before.
– dislike: the fact that you have to drive everywhere; the “strip mall” architecture
3/ Do you miss CR? What do you miss the most? How often do you go back?
– yes I miss it but now that I have my own family here the “homesickness” got much better; I miss the nature: the woods, the fields and the mountains.
– trying to go back every year or so
4/ What lead you to blogging?
— desperation; for years and years I have been trying to find similar website to stay connected with my Czech roots. As I was unsuccessful with my search I decided to create it myself.
Last three questions ask about the blog in particular: what is CMD about, who is it for, how often do I write, do I write in Czech as well?
– you all know the answers! ![]()

Vyborne! This had to happen; your website is just too good to be ignored for long. I’m very pleased for you.
Thanks Mike! I am looking forward to your next guest post on your visit to Czech !!
Congratulations,Tanja!
I’m so glad that you created this website! It is very informative and I like that you translate in both Czech and English! I enjoy reading and learning as much as I can about the Czech culture esp. since my significant other is Czech!
Thank you Anh! I am glad that you guys like it…it gives me drive to write more stuff! Say hi (or rather “ahoj”) to you significant other from me..
