A world-known fisherman (and also the son of a famous Czech musician and producer, Karel Vagner) Jakub Vagner recently completed another record: while on his trip to Amazonia, Jakub caught a 190 kilograms (419 lb) catfish which is to be the biggest sweet-water fish ever caught. Not only did the fish “flew by” for over 400 meters before Jakub managed to even slow this thing down but the the size of this fish also destroyed all of his fishing gear as well as his hands…but it was well worth it. According to Jakub, this trip has been the most exciting expedition yet. The group hiked through the Amazonian jungle for about 6 weeks, 500 miles away from the closest signs of any civilization, only to meet up face-t0-face with the local Indian tribe which has never seen a white person before! No one got eaten, in fact, the 2 groups became best buddies.

The 24-year old Jakub studied the School o Music (his instrument was bass) but after 3 years of “fiddling around” he decided to quit and put all of his energy into the professional fishing. He is the author of numerous fishing documentaries.

Tato ryba je oficilane nejvetsi sladkovodni rybou, ktera byla kdy sportovne ulovena. Jakub vypravi:” Z usinani me vytrhl rev obrovskeho navijaku, ktery se pouziva jen pro lov zraloku a obrich mecounu. Ryba ujizdela proudem vice nez 400 metru, nez jsem ji byl vubec schopen pribrzdit…”. Podle neho to zatim byla ta nejdobrodruznejsi expedice. Nejen ze se 6 tydnu prodirali Amazonskou dzungli vzdalenou 800 kilometru od nejblizsi civilizace, ale take se setkali tvari v tvar s mistinimi Indiany, kteri nikdy zadneho “belocha” nepotkali! Nikdo je ale nesezral, naopak, skamaradili se s nimi.

24-lety Jakub studoval 3 roky na prazske konzervatori, skolu ale nedokoncil, rozhodl se “fidlovani” nechat a venovat se pouze sportovnimu rybareni. Je autorem nekolika dokumentarnich filmu o rybolovu.
